Episode 129: Tristan's First Birthday

Welcome to the Knitting Samurai and Her Guys Video Podcast!

Knitting Time:

Mum's Starter Socks for Steve using Patons Kroy Sock FX in the Cascade Color. Using US size 1.5 or 2.5mm needles. These were cast on Febuary 18th 2010. Had just turned the first heel and was doing color management with mismatched dye lots. Sock is too large for my foot or Mum's, ergo Steve gets them. He doesn't mind the color.  Finished the second sock, 332 yards.

Noro Argosy Scarf in Silk Garden Lite designed by Vyvyan Neel and published in Knitty Winter 2006.  I used 2 skeins and knit this in November of 2007.

Blue that Sings socks, my monthly self striping vanilla sock. My basic toe up sock receipe: US size 0 - 2.0mm needles. Wendy Johnson's Slip Stitch Heel Basic Sock. A 2x2 rib on top of that. Yarn is Scrumptiouspurl Stripe Me Up in the Berrylicious Colorway. 80/20 merino nlon -love it!

Swirl Hat by Mandie Harrington second round!  White Birch Fiber Arts 80/20 Merino Nylon Self-Striping in the Tan, Rested, and Ready colorway.  2 down started 3rd with Knit Picks Felici in the Goth colorway.  US 2s/3s -2.75/3.25mm needles.

Cast on a Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmerman for Fibernymph's ABCKAL. White Birch Fiber Arts 80/20 Merino Nylon Self-Striping in the Tan, Rested, and Ready colorway.  Mixed in some Fibernymph Dye Works Bounce in the Summer Squash colorway.  US size 4s, 3.5mm needles.

The Easy by Martina Behm purchased Done Roving Frolicking Feet in the Apple Picking Colorway for this shawl back in January. Using US size 3 - 3.25mm needles. Finished! 336 yards.

Cast on a Second Easy by Martina Behm using new needles 24" cable. Using US size 3 - 3.25mm needles. Using Coulrophobia Carnivale in the Self-Striping Spring Jeans colorway.

Jet Plan Mittens are the Felted Kid Mitts by TECHknitter $3.25 on Rav. Using Malabrigo Worsted -100% merino single ply wool, perfect for felting. Color is 59 Lime Blue. Initial Cast on was January 2015. Finished top and felted both pairs. Cutting away cotton not so much fun. First row is tough on hands. Need to knit 4 cuffs.

Tristan's BRQ! By Shelley Mackie & Larissa Brown Using US size 2s - 2.75mm needles. Using Opal Rainforest, Fibernymph Bounce, and Leading Men Fiber Arts Show Stopper in Dipping Sauce is the final piece.
15 completed squares for T's Blanket. Will need 30.

Let's Swap!
July Mini Swap! Who's in? Signups are now through and 6/19. Will assign partners that weekend and we’ll get them shipped off by Friday July 17th. We’ll plan on exchanging addresses via private messages and getting to know each other a little bit over here on the boards. Packages should include either Option A or B along with a few other little extras but let’s agree to keep the cost of the goodies under $10 (not including yarn). It may or may not be important to your swap partner to know the yarn brand/color/content of the yarns so please try and include it just to be safe. If you don’t know that’s alright, but if you do, please include it.
If your interested in swapping head over the thread on Ravelry. Reply with the option you’d like to receive. You can also answer some of the questions I’ve listed to give us some ideas about each other and maybe prompt some chatter. Feel free to reply to others, this is not chatterfree.
Option A: Send 4 mini skeins (20 grams each)
or
Option B: Send 8 mini mini skeins (5 grams each)
